Woodstock Group Provides Peer Support to Parents.

A peer support group can be a place for people facing challenges in their daily lives to find community. Our groups offer individuals struggling with substance use, mental health, and trauma-related challenges support from a community facing similar issues. In Shenandoah County, our Parenting Under Stress group meets weekly with participation free of charge. All adults are welcome and encouraged to join our group:

Parenting Under Stress

Being a parent is challenging and for those facing substance use, mental health, and trauma-related struggles it can be even more challenging. Parents are invited to join other parents to discuss the stress, struggles, anxiety, and fear that often comes with raising children. An experienced and certified Peer Support Specialist leads discussions on coping strategies, parenting skills, and navigating housing, employment, custody, divorce, domestic violence, and other challenges. We partner with Family Promise to offer this group, but participants do not need to be enrolled in Family Promise to attend. Call Family Promise to register children for free childcare during the group meeting.
